All cadets are encouraged to follow the standard ATC syllabus. This consists of the First Class, Leading, Senior, Master classifications. Different activities are available to cadets depending on their classification and this is one of the main reasons for progression through the syllabus. All cadets must pass the First Class training in order to take part in virtually any activity although certain exceptions apply.
Examinations for leading cadet are now fully on-line for all cadets with senior and master cadet exams available for new students. The new system Ultilearn, is being rolled out and cadets can now sit the exams when they are ready, and re-sit after 10 days should they need to.
A minimum of 30 hours must be spent studying at each level in order to qualify for the BTEC. This used to normally mean one classification being studied per year, but now it depends on the effort put in by the cadets.
